Jeanette's Message

As we conclude The Glass Castle, what message does the author leave behind for the reader? What life lessons does Walls convey about family, challenges, and personal growth?

  1. What message does the Author leave behind for the reader, In the book the dad says some pretty good life lesson which is kind off surprising. One of them was "All you have to do, is show old demon that your not afraid" and this lesson is never run away from your fears/challenges. The dad shows that whatever the family goes through they will still be a family, and no matter what Jeanette goes through the family will always be on her side.

  3. She leaves behind that life isn't always far and that some people have to learn life the hard way. Life lesson about family is that their important in life and your going to need them in life. The struggles in a family is what makes them unique from everyone else. Another lesson she learns from challenges is that you shouldn't run or hide from them but to face them and defeat them. Hiding or running from them isn't going to make you stronger. The last thing she learns is personal growth is that she used her challenges to make her stronger. One challenge she faces was those Mexican girls that beat her up in the ally way and she went back there and her and Brian beat them up and they ran.

  4. In the Glass Castle, the author tries to tell the reader that you have to face your challenges and it will make you stronger. When Jeanette was afraid of Demon her father taught her to face her fears and it helped her. Jeanette started to personally grown when she faced her fears. Walls also taught us that family is not always perfect. Jeanette taught us that family, challenges, and personal growth might make you grow into the person you are later in your life.

  6. The message the author leaves behind in the glass castle is that Jeanette and Brian are learning what the real world is like out there that not everything they do is going to be liked by everybody else . Also , when the quote " Its struggle makes its beautiful" the author is saying that even though the family has its struggle its still makes it beautiful . Most importantly its teaching that even though the family is struggling its still finds every way to bring it back together . Jeanette faced her fears and figured out the way of life . The way she has been raised isn't the way of life she does not really understand why she got beat up because she was not raised in that way .

  7. The family's struggles represent the Joshua tree Because every family isn't perfect. Such as the family mentioned in the story. Jeanette was walking down an ally way to get to the motel and four Mexican girls start to fight her. After the fight Jeanette gets to the motel her her notices all the scratches and bump on her body and Jeanette starts to say that she beat them up and the thing is that Jeanette wasn't crying like a girl her age would. crying
