What I liked about this novel was the fact this book was it talked about what most schools don't talk about .It had a meaning that if you don't speak out you cant have justice.The thing I mostly disliked was when at the end of the book it left off as a cliffhanger and didn't give us the what happens in the future.Although at the end it tells us what should happen I wished it had a chapter about what is going on prior to coming out as being raped.One of my favorite characters is Melinda the reason I chose her was because in the beginning she was not as happy but as time came she overcame her obstacles.Also , the most surprising even in the story was when Andy Evans came into the closet and shut the door behind Melinda and started to shout because Melinda opended up to being raped by him.Personally I think that this was surprising.Personally I recommend this book to people because it tells a story about how a girl cant speak about a tragic incident and it has a lot of unexpected turns in the book.Not only that but it tells how that if you cant speak out then there is no justice for yourself.As for Melinda she hopefully got justice.
The book speak was a very interesting and somewhat repeatable book. I would not recommend this book, this book was depressing and sad and people who have been going through a rough patch would not like this book. This book was a good book I am not going to lie, an example of one of my favorite parts is when David stands up to Mr.Neck. This book had a lot of bad parts in my opinion, for example I really don't like the part when Melinda tells Rachel about Andy and what he has done. My favorite character is David, David is my favorite character because of his attitude, he doesn't care who they are if they say something stupid David will call them out on it. The most surprising event in the story for me is when Andy and Rachel got into a fight at prom and then Andy started to kiss the foreign exchange student right after Rachel walked away.
I would recommend the novel Speak to others because its about a girl going to a party at the end of the summer and she ends up getting raped at the party and calling the cops. The book is realistic in its own way because any girl can get raped at a party and it shows the effects it has on them. My favorite character would be Melinda because she brings us on her journey of making it through freshman year by barley talking. She brings us through some emotional times in her life but in the end she can finally speak and say whats on her mind and now she'll be able to speak up for herself. The most surprising thing in the novel is when we find out when she got raped. She went to a party and called the cops later on at it but we don't know why, maybe someone passed out and wasn't breathing or there was a fight and everyone was to drunk to realize what was going on. The emotions when we find out that she got raped is shocking. Out of everything that could happen, she gets raped. That brings the sense of shock to the reader.
What i liked about the novel was that in the book speak Malinda was shoved in the closet and got raped, Malinda overcome her fear and stuck up for herself when Andy was beginning to rape her again when no one was there to help. Also My favorite part of the book was when her and Mr. freeman were bonding together when she didn't really have anyone to talk to or had no friends. What i disliked about the book was that she was raped by Andy and people were being really mean to her because she called the police. My favorite character is Malinda because she has a lot of interesting things about her. she was really inspirational and never gave up. The most surprising event in the story was there really was not a ending to the book. they never told u if Andy went to jail, and it was really touching when she had somethings to go though that was not easy.

Speak is a book I would definitely recommended it to others because it showed that someone can be going through more than they seem to be. Another reason why I would recommended the book for is because of how strong the words in the book speaks to the reader. The part that I liked in the book is that at the end Melinda finally stood up for herself. Also, another thing I liked in the book is how strong the book was. What I disliked about the book is how Heather abandoned Melinda and didn't try to see why she was so negative and depressed. A second thing I disliked in the book was how Melinda's mom didn't try harder to find out what was wrong with Melinda. My favorite character in the book is Melinda because of what a strong person she became in the end. Another reason Melinda is my favorite character is because she started to fight through her depression.
